The 10m Running Target Medal Match took place in the vicinity of the Stockholm Stadium, in the frame of the celebrations for the 100-year anniversary of the 1912 Olympic Games held here.
Passing through the qualifications in first and second place, with 390 and 384 points, the two Chinese teammates Yang Zhang and Li Xue Yan made it to the Women’s medal match together. Then, winning their respective semi-finals with outstanding scores (6 to 0 and 6 to 1), they met again in the Gold medal match.
It was Yang Zeng (the shooter who had won the qualification rounds) who eventually won the duel, outscoring her teammate Li Xue Yan by 6 to 4 points, and securing the Gold medal.
The 25-year old Chinese shooter had won this years’ Asian Championship, and had finished in the spotlights also at the 2010 ISSF World Championship in all events held in Munich, where she had closed the round in second place, at the age of 23.
And two teammates also met at the medal match for the Bronze medal. There, Irina Izmalkova of Russia beat her teammate Olga Stepanova 6 to 3 points, finishing on the podium.
China atop of the team podium
Thanks to the great performances of Yang Zhang and Li Xue Yan, the People’s Republic of China step atop of the teams’ podium, securing the Gold medal with an overall score of 1147 points. Following in second place, Izmalkova and
Stepanova’s Russia pocketed the teams’ Silver with a total score of 1141 points. The teams Bronze went to Ukraine, with 1127 points.
